Answers to frequently asked questions

Why is there play in the handle of the Boxer Plus, Kilo, Mats & Lobbe?

The handle of the Boxer Plus, Kilo, Mats, and Lobbe (Compact) is intentionally designed to be ‘loose.’ This is not a defect but a functional design choice that ensures the handle operates smoothly, whether the stove is cold or hot.

When heated, metal expands, and when cooled, it contracts. By allowing some play in the handle, it can move freely under changing temperatures. The screw that holds the handle in place serves only to secure it, not to tighten it further.

Technical Explanation
The screw first threads into a metal sleeve and then into the stove door to secure the handle. This construction keeps the handle firmly in place while still allowing enough movement. See image.

Important: Tightening the screw does not reduce the handle’s play. In fact, overtightening may cause the screw to break, rendering the door unusable and leading to unnecessary damage and costly repairs.

Conclusion
The play in the handle is an essential feature of the stove’s operation and does not need to be fixed.
