When removing the stones from a Lobbe (compact) it is important to do this very carefully. Make sure you have a cloth or piece of cardboard at hand. This will prevent damage to the stones or your own floor.
To remove the stones, you will need your own hands as well as 1 or possibly 2 large flathead screwdrivers.
Below we will tell you step by step what you need to do.
1. Open the door
2. Remove the ash from the stove (if this has not already been done)
3. Remove the ash sill
4. Remove the heat shield (top)
a. Lift the heat shield slightly.
b. Slide it a little bit to the left
c. Now lower the right side first
d. Carefully remove the heat shield.
5. Remove the flue pipes from the stove (Optional, but very useful!) (Steps 1 to 4 are also required when you have your chimney swept)
a. Push the section of the flame tubes on the window side all the way up
b. Pull the flue pipe towards you to remove it from the holes
c. Carefully lower the flue and remove it from the stove
d. Do this with both flue pipes
6. Remove the bottom stone
NOTE: If the bottom stone needs to be replaced and is no longer usable, you can also choose to break it with a hammer.
7. Remove the left side brick
8. Remove the rear stone
9. Prepare the new stones
10. Now we are going to put the stones back in the reverse order
11. Place the right side stone
12. Place the back stone
13. Place the left side stone
14. Place the base stone
15. Replace the flame tubes (Look carefully at the position, see video)
16. Place the ash sill back in place
17. Close the door again.
