Answers to frequently asked questions

How do I replace the internals of a Lobbe (compact)?

When removing the stones from a Lobbe (compact) it is important to do this very carefully. Make sure you have a cloth or piece of cardboard at hand. This will prevent damage to the stones or your own floor.

To remove the stones, you will need your own hands as well as 1 or possibly 2 large flathead screwdrivers.

Below we will tell you step by step what you need to do.

1. Open the door

2. Remove the ash from the stove (if this has not already been done)

3. Remove the ash sill

4. Remove the heat shield (top)

a. Lift the heat shield slightly.
b. Slide it a little bit to the left
c. Now lower the right side first
d. Carefully remove the heat shield.

5. Remove the flue pipes from the stove (Optional, but very useful!) (Steps 1 to 4 are also required when you have your chimney swept)

a. Push the section of the flame tubes on the window side all the way up
b. Pull the flue pipe towards you to remove it from the holes
c. Carefully lower the flue and remove it from the stove
d. Do this with both flue pipes

6. Remove the bottom stone

    1. Take a flathead screwdriver and push the bottom stone towards you to create space between the bottom and back stones.
    2. Place one or two flathead screwdrivers behind the bottom stone and push up so that the stone loosens and lifts up.
    3. Hold the stone up well so that it does not fall back
    4. As soon as possible, grab the stone and carefully pull it forward and out of the stove

NOTE: If the bottom stone needs to be replaced and is no longer usable, you can also choose to break it with a hammer.

7. Remove the left side brick

    1. Grab this at the top of the high corner and turn the side brick out. Pay attention to the steel spoiler above your door in the stove

8. Remove the rear stone

    1. First slide to the left (use the air holes if necessary)
    2. Carefully turn the stone out
    3. Remove the right side brick
    4. Turn the back inwards
    5. Carefully remove the stone

9. Prepare the new stones

10. Now we are going to put the stones back in the reverse order

11. Place the right side stone

  1. First place the front of the stone in the correct place
  2. Turn the back against the wall of the combustion chamber

12. Place the back stone

    1. The logo must be above the air holes
    2. First slide the stone a little to the left and then back to the right
    3. If necessary, use the air holes for this

13. Place the left side stone

    1. Turn the stone correctly in the stove (high side first)
    2. Place the stone at an angle in the stove and then turn the high side towards the wall

14. Place the base stone

    1. Place the wide side (with product code) towards you.
    2. Carefully place on bottom

15. Replace the flame tubes (Look carefully at the position, see video)

    1. First hold the flame pipes up on the window side
    2. Insert the tubes into the holes
    3. Lower gently until they are in place

16. Place the ash sill back in place

    1. First lower for the bottom stone
    2. If there is not enough room for the sill to drop, first push the bottom stone towards the rear stone with a screwdriver.

17. Close the door again.
