How do I replace the door cord of a Lobbe (compact)?

When replacing the cord of the door of your Lobbe, it is important to do this carefully. Follow the steps below and watch the video to do this correctly. This will prevent the cord from being placed incorrectly, but also prevent glue stains or other damage to your stove. Incorrectly replacing the cord can cause leaks and can also cause the cord to wear out faster.

To replace the cord, you will need a number of things in addition to this description and the video:

Tip: In many cases it is also possible to remove the door of the Lobbe first, this simplifies the process. If this is not possible it is also very easy to do with a fixed door.

We show a description of how to dismantle the door of the Kilo in the video: How do I replace the glass of my Kilo.

Step-by-step plan for replacing a door cord in Lobbe

  1. Open the door.
  2. Remove the cord from the door, starting at one of the ends.
  3. Carefully pull the cord out of the frame
  4. Remove old glue residue from the frame
    1. Take a flathead screwdriver and scrape the old glue residue out of the frame. (If this is not done properly it will affect the adhesion of the new cord.)
  5. Open the tube with the kit
  6. Spray a layer of sealant into the cord frame (not too little, but not too much either)
  7. Take the new cord and place it back into the frame
    1. Start at the bottom right (hinge side)
    2. Make sure you press the cord firmly
    3. Do not pull the cord (it should fit snugly)
    4. Make sure the cord does not twist.
  8. Press the entire cord firmly again so that it is firmly in the frame.
  9. Close the door properly!
  10. Wait 24 hours before firing up the stove again. The sealant needs time to dry and bond completely.

Hatsjikidé! You have just replaced the cord of your Lobbe (compact). This will prevent the chance of leakage in the near future.
